Q

When is the fan blade shedding procedure applied?

(And how often/what is the pro)

A

When OAT is 3º or lower and in icing conditions.

Intervals not exceeding 30 mins and once within 5 minutes before takeoff.

Accelerate engines to 70% for 30 secs.
Check ENG ECAM
Don’t use parking brake
If unable 70% and 30s, due to airport/surface conditions, thrust and time should be as high and long as possible.

FREEZING RAIN, DRIZZLE, FOG or HEAVY SNOW, ice shedding may be enhanced by additional run ups by momentarily advancing to 70% at intervals not exceeding 10 mins.

17
Q

What is the engine spread on the 319/20/21?

Dimensions

A

38’

18
Q

When is a “Pitch, Pitch” call required?

A

10 Degrees (319/320)
7.5 Degrees (321)

19
Q

When is a “Bank, Bank” call required?

A

7 Degrees

20
Q

When is a “Drift, Drift” call required?

A

When the aircraft drifts away from the centreline or any uncertainty of centreline tracking.

21
Q

When is a “floating” call required?

A

If the aircraft reaches the end of the OTZ and is still airborne.

22
Q

When is FLEX not permitted?

A
  • Assumed temp is less than OAT
  • Windshear or known temperature inversion exist below 1500AGL.
  • Runway is contaminated.
  • Prohibited by Route Manual.
  • Prohibited by MEL.
23
Q

Why do we start ENG 2 first?

A

It powers the yellow hydraulic system, pressurizing the parking brake.

24
Q

Why do we start ENG 1 if starting one engine?

A

It powers the green hydraulic system, providing nosewheel steering and normal braking without using the PTU.

25
Q

When’s the earliest you can call “After Start Checklist”?

A

After “revert to hand signals” call is made.

26
Q

When should you turn brake fans on during the taxi out?

A

If an arc is displayed above the brake temperature on the WHEEL SD page.

27
Q

What should you be confirming when FO calls “confirm Engine Master 2” when setting up for single engine taxi?

A
  • confirm brakes are not applied
  • confirm taxiing in a straight line
  • confirm correct engine master
  • (confirm APU is on)
28
Q

What are the conditions to plan single engine taxi?

A
  • APU must be serviceable.
  • Single engine start and taxi should not initially be conducted when OAT <= 0c with engines off for more than 3 hours.

Consider the following
- more thrust required
- slow or tight turns in the direction of the operating engine may not be possible and high gross weights
- crew workload and environmental conditions should be considered.

29
Q

What’s the PF (no AP) proper call to set

A) 090 in heading mode
B) 4000 in open climb

A

“Set HDG 090 Pull” or “HDG PULL Set 090”

“Set 4000’ Pull” or “ALT PULL Set 4000”

30
Q

What’s the proper way to call for the inboard course?

A

“DIRECT ____, Radial in ____”

Or just

“Direct _____, Radial in” provided the default inbound radial is confirmed correct for the procedure being flown.

31
Q

What is the minimum speed with ice accretion (if wing ice is operative?)

A

VLS + 10 kts

CONF FULL: VLS + 5 kts

32
Q

What is the minimum speed with ice accretion (if wing anti ice is not operative?)

A

VLS + 10 kts/green dot
