Q

Sympathetic system vs Parasympathetic system

A

Sympathetic - Responsible for fight or flight response (ex - heartrate, breathing rate, diversion of blood to skeletal/muscle system)

Parasympathetic - Calms down, and helps recover, from the sympathetic system

15
Q

All or none firing. Describe it and define the term.

A

Once threshold is met an impulse/action potential will fire

It won’t stop, slow, or get weak

16
Q

Depolarization

A

At threshold, sodium channels open and Na and K starts flooding in

17
Q

Repolarization

A

Sodium and potassium pumps kick out Na and K in order to reestablish the imbalance in neuron to -70mv

18
Q

Refractory period

A

Reset time - cell can ot fire during this time
