What information to gain from the informant/complainant which will assist the investigation?
Full contact details.
Identity and location of the suspect.
Identity of the victim.
First hand account of what the complainant/informant knows.
Precise details of the location of the scene.
Circumstances leading to the discovery.
Details of anyone else at the scene.
Demeanour of the complainant/informant.
Relationship of the complainant/informant to the victim/suspect.
Details of action the complainant/informant has taken and where they have been.
Details of any hazards or safety issues that may affect Police approaching the scene/victim.
When should O/C body strip the body of clothing?
Must only be done on the direction of the O/C investigation.
Stripping the body will take place immediately before the post mortem.
Generally after a visual examination and collection of evidence from the clothed body has been completed.
The body must be stripped in front of the pathologist.
The OC exhibits has a responsibility to maintain an awareness of the significance of each exhibit and what examinations are available.
What other specific matters regarding each exhibit must the OC exhibits determine?
The OC exhibits will determine, plan and record the examination and interrogation of each exhibit and establish its relevance to the investigation.
During the course of some trials witness intimidation may occur. What can OC do?
By maintaining contact with witnesses, Police will be more likely to become aware of any threats, intimidation or interference and can arrange for appropriate action to be taken, such as initiating the witness protection program.
Criminal disclosure act, section 10(4)?
Information required to be disclosed under this Act may be disclosed in whatever form (including electronically) that the person disclosing it, has it in at the time the obligation to disclose it arises and that is readily accessible to the defendant.

What should the FLO identify?
The FLO should identify the cultural origins of the victims family and ensure they are familiar with relevant cultural beliefs and protocols, to enhance relations with the victims family and contribute to the victim profile.
Why is it important to develop a forensic strategy for examination of exhibits?
Developing a forensic strategy for examination of exhibits allows the OC exhibits to prioritise tasks in line with the direction of the investigation.
Two main purposes for Police attending the scene of any death.
Police purpose is always to investigate thoroughly and gather sufficient evidence to satisfactorily explain the circumstances of the death.
What to do when the body has been disturbed at a scene.
Do not make attempts to restore the scene to its original unchanged condition.
Make enquiries to enable the original unchanged scene to be subsequently reconstructed and photographed, if required.
