Why were the Five Rules of Conduct established?
Single set of rules apply to both members and firms, providing a simple structure with clear example behaviours for each rule.
What are the 5 RICS Global Professional and Ethical Standards (2021)?
C - service a provided but competent individuals
R - respect and D&I
I - act with integrity
S - good quality and diligent
P - public interest
(1) Members and firms must be honest, act with integrity and comply with personal obligations, including obligations to the RICS.
(2) Members and firms must maintain professional competency and ensure that services are provided by competent individuals who have the necessary expertise.
(3) Members and firms must provide a good quality and diligent service.
(4) Members and firms must treat others with respect and encourage D&I.
(5) Members and firms must act in the public interest, take responsibility for their actions and prevent harm and maintain public confidence in the profession.
What is in appendix a of the code of conduct?
Sets out professional obligations which are to be followed by members and firms.
What must regulated firms have?
- CHP, which includes an ADR provider approved by RICS, and maintain a complaints log.
- Adequate PII
- If sole principal, make appropriate arrangement for progessional work to continue in the event of inability to work.
What is a bye-law?
Laws and regulations set by the governing council which are the basis of the RICS ROC
