  • Notify a supervisor as soon as practicable
  • In the case of employees and rural locations, notify the nearest OnDuty supervisor
  • Ensure post incident procedures required of/by supervisor are completed.

  • Consult with the operator involved as whether your physical attendance is necessary at the scene- Consider FaceTime
  • Ensure that proper after-care and appropriate medical attention is provided
  • ensure the scene is preserved and photographed and all evidence including discharge cartridges, wires, probes and sufficient cartridge identification tags (4-5) are recovered from the scene and secured.
    (Taser 10 does not have cartridge identification tags)
  • Ensure subject is examined by medical doctor and examination is recorded on Pol 42 post taser exposure medical examination form
  • Pol 42 should be Uploaded to TOR
  • complete taser register
  • Submit TOR
  • Review footage, event logs and note on TOR form a summary of the outcome of the review

  • Ensure the operator submits tactical options report (TOR)
  • Ensure the operator completes details of all instances of arc/warning display in the taser register
  • Ensure the operator uploads the taser footage and event logs into Evidence.com, categorises the uploaded data including the TOR and event details
    -shares the event in evidence.com with their supervisor
  • debrief the officer involved on the incident and review the Taser footage along with the TOR - Note on the TOR form a summary of the outcome of the review

Responding to unintentional discharges

A
  • preserve and photograph the scene(Necessary for subsequent enquiries)
  • Immediately withdraw the taser from service and consult with Police national armoury as to whether or not the taser and evidence is forwarded to them for examination in a report
  • All evidence, including the taser, discharge cartridges, wires, probes and sufficient 4-5 cartridge identification tags are recovered from the scene and secured.
  • Instigate a review of the facts surrounding the incident (The scope and scale will depend on the nature of the discharge and any injury)
  • Ensure the operator submits a TOR for unintentional discharge
  • Ensure the operator involved uploads the Taser footage and event logs into evidence.com via evidence sync or by docking the device battery and categorises the uploaded data including the TOR and event details
  • Ensure the operator completes the details of the discharge in the taser register
  • Notify the district professional conduct manager.
