2NEURO- Primer-MEDPHYS-tracts Flashcards
What is most anterior tube?
Telencephalon
2nd caudal region of the brain; thalamus and hypothalamus
Diencephalon (2Toddler)
3rd layer; “midbrain”/quadrageminal plate (made up of 4 bones; 2 on top are superior colliculi and 2 on bottom are inferior colliculi)
Mesencephalon (middle)
Nuclei that regulate respiratory function, Conscious awareness
Metencephalon (META brain)
Medulla oblongataa- sensitive area heart rate and respiration. Remember PONs H+
Myelencephalon (oblong cord)
Lobes of the brain
Frontal- thought, Parietal- sensory, Occipital- vision, Temporal- language, hear
Primary Somatosensory Cortex neurological representation of our body- sensation?
Post central gyrus
Primary motor cortex, interprets sensory and initiates motor?
Pre central gyrus
Broca area
Broken speech, Understands. motor activity to make speech. Inf of frontal, parietal, hear
posterior part of temporal lobe; understanding of the language, syntax and meaning of language
Wernickes
The network of neurons that fire in a certain sequence from sensory. Reinforced with more frequency
Association. Primary cortex
Post a CVA the pt has words easily spoken, BUT unrelated
Fluent, Sensory, Receptive Wernicke aphasia. Help to determine location. Lost of Physical vs cognitive. Word salad, not obvious
Dad is hard to understand, he has difficulty speaking, but he know the meaning of what he saying.
Non fluent aphasia, motor expressive or Broca aphasia. Broken speech. Effort seen
What three arteries supply the vasculature of the cortex?
ANT, MID, POST circle of willis
Which areas a must sensitive in a stroke due to reliance on both ANT and Middle cerebral artery?
Watershed area, Broca and Wenicke- easily ischemic in there if obstruction or ischemia
