what is termination?
the process in which a business ends its employment contract with an employee
what is retirement?
individual permanently leaves workforce as they no longer wish to work due to enough accumulated money or age/physicality barrier
what is redundancy?
employee leaves due to insufficient work, or role no longer existing because new technology or insufficent money to pay employees
what is resignation?
employee voluntarily ending on employment with business, usually to take position elsewhere to advance further or for better wages/ work conditions
what is dismissal (firing/sacking)?
involuntary termination of an employee who fails to meet work standards or demonstrates unacceptable behaviour
what are entitlement considerations?
legal obligations employers must uphold following a termination (eg. annual/long service leave, notice of termination)
what are transition considerations?
social responsibilities a business can uphold following a termination (eg. offer resume writing or interview training to improve employability, provide flexible hours so employee can attend interviews for other jobs)
