2D Filming Flashcards
Why is manual focus important?
Prevents any changes in the focus during the filming process
The Camera must be positioned…?
Perpendicular to the plane of motion
What is Focal Length?
The distance between the point of convergence in your lens and the camera measured in mm
What is Angle of View?
How much of the scene will be captured
What is magnification?
How large the individual elements will be
What is Perspective Error?
How can it be minimised?
An apparent change in length of objects as they move away from the plane of movement
By positioning the camera as far away as possible and zooming in
(causing a larger focal length)
What is Parallax Error?
Images towards the edge of the field of view are not viewed from exactly side on
Moving towards the edge of the view has an effect on the angles
What is Frame Rate?
What is the normal value?
Is the number of images exposed per second
Standard for walking - 25 Hz
Standard for running - 50-100Hz
* Frame rate too slow will result in missing key elements in movement*
What is shutter speed?
The duration of exposure of each image (how long the shutter is open)
The slower the shutter (longer duration) –> more light = brighter image
Slower shutter allows movement between each frame which can cause blurring of fast movements
Difference between shutter speed and frame rate
Frame rate determines the amount of movement BETWEEN each image
Shutter speed determines the amount of movement WITHIN each image
What is aperture?
The brightness of the image that passes through the lens
Is expressed as an F-number (F/1.4, F/2, f/2.8)
The lower the aperture –> the deeper the depth of field by blurring the background
