Why did the Constitutional Convention happen?
The farmers had to pay taxes on their land and they couldn’t afford them so they were losing their land. So, they rebelled: Shay’s Rebellion. This scared other states and the military couldn’t come inside of the states to stop them. This means there was a lack of authority, which was dangerous.
Why was the Constitution created?
To strengthen the government. The founding fathers had to create a stronger Federal/National government and decide who has all the powers. The people were worried about future revolts and mob rule. The Articles of Confederation was too weak! They couldn’t negotiate trade treaties, cannot pay debts, cannot settle disputes between states, and cannot tax,
Articles of Confederation. What is it?
The plan, established by the states in 1781, that created a national congress with limited powers.
What is tyranny?
Cruel and oppressive government or rule
Definition of founding fathers.
A leading figure in the founding of the United States; specifically a member of the American Constitutional Convention of 1787.
What is the Constitution?
A body of fundamental principles or established models according to which a state or other organization is acknowledged to be governed.
Why do we need government?
- There wouldn’t be safety procedures in place.
- The market would crash.
- No currency.
- More crimes
- The whole world would be affected.
- No order or organization.
- ETC…
