260 Second term ANATOMY Flashcards
Peritoneum
Serous membrane lining the abdominopelvic cavity
Parietal peritoneum - lines internal surface of cavity
Visceral peritoneum - invests and lines viscera
Structural locations based on peritoneum
Retroperitoneal Structures - posterior to peritoneum
Subperitoneal Structures -
inferior to peritoneum
Intraperitoneal Structures -
contained within periotoneal cavity
Mesentery
Double layer of peritoneum that anchors intraperitoneal structures, allows passage of vessels
Borders of the stomach
Greater Curvature -> inferior, larger border
Lesser Curvature -> superior, smaller border
Both span to duodenum
Omenta
Double-Layered folds of peritoneum that extend between organs
Stomach -> proximal duodenum
Lesser omentum
Extends from stomach/promixal duodenum (lesser curvature) to nearby organs
double layered
two ligaments -> hepatogastric and hepatiduodenal
Greater omentum
Extends from stomach/duodenum (greater curvature) descending, like an apron
four layers
Greater/lesser sac
Greater sac is superior and inferior to lesser sac (omental bursa), which sits behind the stomach and anterior to the transverse colon
Omental foramen
located posterior to hepatoduodinal part of lesser omentum,
Transverse colon anatomy
Haustra -> Sacculations of wall
Omental appendices -> fatty projections
Taniae coli -> longitudinal bands
