providers sell childcare to parents and guardians just like any other goods/services
Regulated childcare and Unregulated childcare
Childcare that is officially recognized by local municipalities and adhere to a set of regulations. Unregulated is just. not this.

What is the social good that comes from good childcare?
Healthy, well-adjusted children –> healthy, well-adjusted adults –> societal benefits from adults’ work
What are the two economic goods that comes from good childcare?
- Good childcare centers speeds up the “velocity” of money (money changing hands) –> creates more taxable income and more tax funds

What are the four strategies to help women combine paid work and care?
- carer strategy (part-time employment)
- earner strategy (policies against gender discrimination)
- choice strategy (women are given many opportunities to provide care or full-time emplyoment)
- earner-carer strategy (unpaid care work and paid work are equally shared on a domestic level)
Carer Strategy
Part-time employment, plus assistance, is considered the best way for women to combine employment and care
Earner Strategy
Men and women are equally encouraged to participate in the labour market through policies against gender discrimination
Choice Strategy
Women are given many opportunities to choose whether to provide care or engage in full-time employment
Earner-Carer Strategy
Unpaid care work and paid work are equally shared between men and women
Flextime
working the same numbers of hours, but having some freedom to decide when to work these hours (more flexible to a childcare schedule)
