2.5 Given a scenario, install and configure basic wired/wireless small office/home office (SOHO) networks. Flashcards
Primary Internet Protocol. Consists of 32 bit binary numbers. Composed of three classes, A (1-126), B (128-191), C (192-223).
IPv4
Addresses that do not communicate directly with the internet. Often uses proxy server or network address translation to communicate.. Has ranges of A (10.0.0.0 to 10.255.255.255), B (172.16.0.0 to 172.31.255.255), C (192.168.0.0 to 192.168.255.255).
Private addresses
Addresses that are allowed to be routed to the internet. Has 5 classes A, B, C, D, E.
Public Addresses
Addressing scheme with improvements to handle growth in public networks. Uses 128 bit addressing scheme.
IPv6
A link-local address - No forwarding by routers. Automatically assigned– Uses ARP to confirm the address isn’t currently in use.
Automatic Private IP Addressing (APIPA)
Manually enter information for the host and never changes.
Static
Host uses DHCP to get information.
Dynamic
A server (router) that allows traffic beyond the internal network. Hosts are configured with the address of this and if they need to correspond with a host outside the internal network the data is sent to this to facilitate.
