What are the 4 muscles of the rotator cuff?
Supraspinatus, Infraspinatus, Subscapularis, Teres minor
What is the function of the acromioclavicular joint?
maintains the relationship between the clavicle and the scapula
What are the 3 planes of motion for the acromioclavicular joint?
Rotation (1o motion), flexion/extension, ab/adduction (minor)
What are the 2 muscles that move the acromioclavicular joint?
trapezius, deltoid
Where is the most common location of biceps tendinosis?
bicipital groove
What are some mechanisms of injury that cause biceps tendinosis?
repetitive overhead use, shoulder instability, disruption of the transverse ligament of the humerus
What are some PE findings for biceps tendinosis?
pain with resistance, pain with palpation
What are some special tests for biceps tendinosis?
Yergason, Speeds
What is a “frozen shoulder?”
A common condition characterized by retriction (mainly abduction and external rotation) and pain of shoulder “complex”
What are some predispositions to a frozen shoulder?
>40yo, women, Type 1 diabetes, prolonged immobility
What are some treatments for a frozen shoulder?
early mobilization, NSAIDS, steroid injections, OMT
What is the first step of the spenser technique?
Extension with flexed elbow
What is the 2nd step of the spenser technique?
Flexion with extended elbow
What is the third step of the spenser technique?
Circumduction with flexed elbow
What is the fourth step of the spenser technique?
Circumduction with traction and extended elbow
