Give an example of an r-selected species.
rats; give birth to lots of babies but don’t tend to them

giraffes; give birth to one calf and treat them to the best of their ability
What does a type-1 graph look like?
Starts out high but drops immediately and then levels out.
What does a type-2 graph look like?
Stays and a constant rate of depletion; direct diagonal line
What does a type-3 graph look like?
Levels out at high and then after a certain amount of time will directly drop.
What type of curve would fit a cow?
Type-3, gives birth to one calf.
What type of curve would fit a fish?
Type -1, dies very early on in life and the strongest survive.
r- or k-selection for a species that die very early on in life.
r-selection
