2.1 Study Guide Flashcards
Define Population
The amount of the same species in one specific area at one specific time
Define Population Density
The amount of individuals per area of something
What are the three types of population distribution?
Random, Clumped, and Uniform
What is an example of a clumped pattern?
Wolves staying in a pack to hunt animals
What is an example of a uniform pattern?
Penguins that stay a certain difference away to raise babies and catch food
What is the population density of 1500 rabbits over 3000 ft^2
0.5 rabbits per sq. ft.
You capture and mark 10 rabbits and release them. You then comeback and catch 20 rabbits, 8 marked and 12 unmarked. What is the total population size.
total population size is 40 rabbits.
What reason would a population be random?
Not very competitive and a surplus of resources.
