2.3 Flashcards
What is work?
The energy transferred (total amount of energy remains constant)
What happens when a ball is kicked? (gravitational potential energy)
Kinetic energy is transferred from foot into kinetic energy of the ball
What happens when a ball gains height? (gravitational potential energy)
Some genetic energy is transferred into gravitational potential energy
What is efficiency of energy transfers?
Work done by players muscles when lifting, tackling and pushing is ALWAYS MORE than the work done on the opponent
What is energy transfer?
Gravitational potential energy to kinetic energy
What is newtons third law of motion?
The force exerted by body A on body B is equal and oppositely directed to the force exerted by body B on body A
What is action force?
A force which acts in one direction on an object
What is reaction force?
The force exerted by the object in the opposite direction to the action force
What is interaction force?
An action- reaction force pair
What is contact force?
The force that is exerted on an object due to contact with the object
What is the spring constant?
A measure of the stiffness of the spring, the longer the spring constant, the stiffer the spring and the more difficult it is to stretch
How do you improve vehicle safety?
- Seat belts
- Air bags
- Crumple zone
- Side impact
