Q

What does the post-registration cirriculum include?

A

The curriculum includes independent prescribing to reflect the core changes in pharmacist practice which are incorporated into the new GPhC standards for the initial education and training of pharmacists. It will also develop leadership, management, education and research capabilities. Training programmes aligned to this curriculum will support pharmacists developing the skillset to progress to the RPS advanced credentialing pathways.

Q

What does the RPS core advanced curriculum describe?

A

The RPS core advanced curriculum describes the entry-level standard for advanced pharmacists working in any patient-focused role. It bridges the gap between the RPS post-registration foundation curriculum and the RPS consultant pharmacist curriculum. It provides a credentialing assessment to assure pharmacists have the capabilities to practise at an advanced level.

The curriculum has been developed collaboratively to create an advanced pharmacy workforce to meet future patient and service needs.

Detailed information on this service can be viewed on the RPS website www.rpharms.com

Q

The RPS consultant pharmacist credentialing process will help you…

A

The RPS consultant pharmacist credentialing process will help you to understand the requirements to enter consultant-level pharmacy practice. It sets out the entry-level knowledge, skills, behaviours and levels of performance expected of consultant pharmacists. These form the basis of the assessment. This credential allows pharmacists to demonstrate their entry-level competence to practice in a consultant pharmacist post.

Q

We have published a leadership development framework for pharmacists and pharmaceutical scientists.

The framework is based on…

A

the concept of engaging, collective leadership for all, whether in a leadership role or not. It promotes leadership behaviours (the ‘how to do’ of leadership) across all sectors of the profession and encourages collective responsibility for the success of an organisation and its services. Engaging leadership can come from anyone, anytime, in an organisation, as appropriate, and is an essential element of good practice and professional development.

Pharmacists in patient-focused roles may also want to refer to the leadership domains in the curricula outlined previously, i.e., the RPS post-registration foundation pharmacists curriculum, RPS core advanced credentialing or the RPS consultant credentialing.
