What is a sacrament?
An outward physical sign of an inward spiritual blessing.
Why are sacraments important?
- They are a way for humans to receive the grace, favour, kindness and love of God
- Strengthens their relationship with God
- Enables them to grow in goodness and faith
- Helps them to become more like Jesus

What is Baptism?
The initiation rite into the Christian faith. It involves making promises before God about living a Christian life. Water is used to symbolize cleansing & washing away ‘original sin’.
What is the Eucharist?
A symbolic re-enactment of the Last Supper. It is thought of as a sacrifice and a meal.
What does ‘consecrated’ mean?
Something that has been made holy.
Why is the Eucharist important?
- It nourishes a Christian spiritually
- Reminds Christians of Jesus’ continued presence in our lives
