Whenever possible, always enter the traffic pattern:
At pattern altitude.
The recommended entry into the airport traffic pattern is:
A 45 degree angle into the downwind leg.
The pre-landing checklist items include:
- Seats and seat belts secured
- Fuel selector on both
- Mixture full rich.
When flying the airport pattern legs, it’s a good practice:
To fly close enough to the runway to be able to land if you lose engine power.

Should occur when the intended touchdown point is approximately 45 degrees behind the wing.
On final approach, one of the fixed values you should maintain is:
The approach speed.
During the approach, align the aiming point on the runway to a place on the windshield. If the windshield mark stays on the aiming point:

During landing you should always try to touch down:
In a nose high attitude.
Just before touchdown, the airplane:
Is stalled about one foot above the runway.
