2.2-DNA replication Flashcards

1
Q

Q

Describe the process of semi-conservative DNA replication

A
  1. DNA helicase breaks hydrogen bonds between base pairs, separating the double helix into two strands
  2. Each strand acts as template whereby complementary free nucleotides bind by specific base pairing
  3. Nucleotides are joined together in a condensation reaction by DNA polymerase
