A

WAN (Wide area network)
WAN is a collection of computers connected over a wide geographical area.
These are used by multinational organisations that have international offices they need to connect to e.g banks.
The hardware used for WANs are often rented because they are expensive to set up.

A

Local area network (LAN)
A LAN is a collection of computers connected over a small geographical area.
Usually found in homes, schools, universities and small companies.
The hardware is owned by the user.
LAN’s are connected to WAN’s.
