2.1.1h Photomicrograph images Flashcards
What is a photomicrograph
A photo or digital image taken through a microscope to show a magnified image of a specimen
Cell function inferred from a relative abundance of mitochondria in cells
Cells w many mitochondria typically undertake energy-consuming processes (eg. neurons, muscle cells)
Cell function inferred from a relative abundance of ER in cells
Cells w extensive ER networks undertake secretory activities (eg. plasma cells, exocrine gland cells)
Cell function inferred from a relative abundance of lysosomes in cells
Cells rich in lysosomes tend to undertake digestive process (eg. phagocytes)
Cell function inferred from a relative abundance of chloroplasts in cells
Cells w chloroplasts undergo photosynthesis (eg. plant leaf tissue but not root tissue)
see showbie slides to be able to identify organelles in cells
