2.1 Exploring Patterns Flashcards
ray
ray AB consists of the initial point A and all the points on line AB that lie on the same side of A as B does
line segment
line AB consists of the end points A and B and all the points on the line AB that lie between A and B
opposite rays
if C is between A and B then ray CA and ray CB or opposite rays
collinear
points, segments, or rays that are on the same line
angle
an angle consists of two different rays that have the same initial point. the rays are the sides and the initial point is the vertex of the angle
acute angle
greater than 0 degrees and less than 90 degrees
right angles
measure of 90 degrees
obtuse angle
greater than 90 degrees and less than 180 degrees
straight angle
measure of 180 degrees
interior of an angles
every non-straight angle has an interior. point D is in the interior of angle A if it is between points that lie on each side of the angle
exterior of an angle
every non-straight angle has an exterior. a point D is on the exterior of angle A if it is not on the angle or in the interior of the angle
adjacent angles
angles are adjacent if they share a common vertex and side but have no common interior points
