ANZ Bank - has a tall organizational structure.
- The narrow span of control allows for close supervision of employees
- Clear lines of responsibility and control and a clear promotion structure
- Disadvantage is that communication is slow

What is a business you could talk about for policies and procedures?
The Warehouse.
Have very clear policies and procedures on how to serve customers, how to operate the tills, how to manage the store.
Without this, the employees wouldn’t know what to do as it is hard to tell 20+ employees what to do and manage them without having policies and procedures that are written down.
By having policies and procedures they are very clear about what they need to do, and the company values and ways of doing things don’t get lost.
What is a business you could talk about for internal controls?
The Warehouse.
Employees have to log in under their name on the tills - means activities with sales and money are easy tracked.
Have security gates to detect when goods are stolen.
Cash is taken by security company at the end of each day.

Zespri (kiwifruit)
Use total quality management - always trying to improve production process, get employees input on the process.

- Flow production method
- Means they can produce 1000s of bottles quickly and at a low cost but machinery costs a lot

- Uses waste oil from frying chips and converts it into biofuel.
