POSITIVES - increased income as receive money from TV rights, more sponsors will be attracted, money will improve facilities, equip and standard of play, increase interest/popularity NEGATIVES - may become reliant on media, can withdraw interest at any time, media may control match times and highlight negatives

win at all costs mentality, rewards e.g. fame and fortune, pressure from coaches to use them and win, everyone does it so want to level playing field
