no time to play as most worked in factories 6 days long hours, no energy due to work, mob games were discouraged by middle class, changes in law and order so less violent tolerated, people have increased educations os can understand more complex sports
Explain what is meant by the terms ‘amateur’ and ‘professional’ in sport
amateurs don’t get paid so play for love of game whereas professionals get paid a salary so playing is a job
How has the social class of amateurs and professionals changed since pre-industrial times?
In pre-industrial times amateurs were upper class and professionals were lower but 21 century they both come from any social class as sport is classless

GT is relationship or interdependence between sport, sponsorship and media. it represents the commercial nature of sport

POSITIVES - ensures fairer outcomes e.g. goal line technology, increases entertainment e.g. action replays, 24/7 access as can viewed anywhere at any time e.g. internet NEGATIVES - detracts from true nature of sport e.g. TMO, slows sport down/causes frustration e.g. third umpire, encourages cheating e.g. technology in PED’s
