A
- Failure of the assembly to effectively deal with flags, parades and the past (Determination of the British government to enact welfare reforms in NI brought in by David cameron
- Cameron threatened to suspend stormont if they didnt enact the welfare reform bill no parties liked this but SF took a stand resulting in the stormont house talks

What were the main features of the Stormont house agreement 1.
A
- A reduction of the fines levied against nI for not implementing this bill
- more powers over corporation tax granted to stormont to help NI economy
- A confirmation of public sector redundancies
- Ni executive would recieve £500 million from the UK government to promote shared and integrated education
- New agencies were set up to deal with legacy issues eg: investigation unit to investigate unsolved murders

A
- A suggestion that the assembly should have power over parading
- A commission was set up to address the issue over flag-flying dispute
- An agreement to reduce the number of MLAs from 108-90 by 2021
- The number of departments in the executive to be reduced from 12-9
- Politicians who didnt want to join the power-sharing executive would be free to set up an official opposition if they chose.
