Other than reporting, what steps should be taken when there is a bite or scratch injury?
- Make sure aggressive animals are contained or removed
- Stop bleeding
- Clean and protect
- Get help
- Report injury
How should bleeding from a bite or scratch injury be stopped?
By applying direct pressure
How should a bite or scratch wound be cleaned and protected?
Gently wash with soap and warm water; use dilute betadine or chlorhexidine
When should you get help/medical attention after a bite or scratch wound?
If the injury is more than a superficial scratch and/or if the animal is wild or a stray
What color container do sharps go in?
Red

Yellow buckets
