Explain “Increase in Diagnosis”
There is a better understanding of disabilities/illnesses, there signs and symptoms and how they can be identified to better education. In the pats people may not have been aware of their disability/illness but now, due to better understanding of conditions, there is an increase in medical referrals, diagnosis’s, treatments and support.
Explain “Advance In Medicine”
We have an increased life expectancy, whether you have a psychical disability of not and this is due to the advance in medicine. In the past people may not have been aware of the conditions that they had and so may have died at a younger age. But because if improved medicine, medical techniques, a wider understanding and better training has lead to people living longer.
Explain “Changes In Society”
Society is more fragmented with less family support which can lead to an increase in physical disabilities and illnesses. Pressures of society “to keep up and preform” may lead to physical disabilities or illnesses.
Explain “Socio- Economic Factors”
Socio- economic deprivation impacts the prevalence of physical disabilities or illnesses, for example poverty and unemployment. There is a significant increase in childhood disabilities that can be linked to poverty. People with physical disabilities or illnesses have a lower employment rate and therefore have a lower income.
Explain “Poor Lifestyle Choices”
People are eating more unhealthy and processed foods without exercising and this could increase an individuals stress levels and chances of getting a physical disabilities or illness. Diabetes and obesity can be directly linked to poor lifestyle choices and can lead to further risk taking behaviour such as drugs and alcohol.
