Q

phase 1 of drug metabolism. do all drugs need it?

A
  • catabolic
  • makes a more reactive metabolite by introducing/unmasking a reactive chemical group to the drug
(if inactive, metabolised by phase 1)
  • not all need it e.g. paracetamol alr has appropriate functional group
