What is the current news ?
Now Operation Greens has been extended from Tomato, Onion, Potato to All Perishable Fruits and Vegetables (TOP to TOTAL)
Objective ?
To protect the growers of fruits and vegetables from making distress sale due to lockdown and reduce post harvest losses
Duration of the scheme ?
Period of 6 months from the date of notification (11/6/2020)
Assistance ?
Ministry will provide subsidy of 50% of the cost of the following 2 components subjected to cost norms :
1) Transportation of eligible crops from surplus production cluster to consumption centre
2) Hiring of appropriate storage facilities for eligible crops (max period of 3 months)
