Endemic definition
An area where a particular disease is found - common
regularly found among a particular people or in a particular region
Epidemic definition
A widespread occurence of a particular disease found in a particular place at a particular time
Pandemic Definition
Disease prevalent over a whole country or the world.
Contagious definition
Able to spread disease from one organism to another, typically from direct contact
Infectious definition
Able to be transmitted from one organism to another in an environment
Pathoginecity definition
Ability of an organism to cause disease, a genetic component of the pathogen that can do this
Virulence definition
The degree of pathoginecity based on fatality rates and other statistics etc.
Direct contact examples
Touching, kissing, sexual intercourse
Indirect contact examples:
Eating utensils, touching something someone who is infected has touched before, money, syringes, toys etc.
Vehicle transmission examples:
Air, blood, water, food, intravenous fluid (drugs)
Animal Vectors examples:
Mosquitoes, fleas, mammals
