How are police involved in the criminal justice system?
Police are responsible for enforcing the law and protecting the public.
Relationships:
Work with the courts to ensure defendants (in custody) are brought before them.
Often give evidence in court.
Work with probation in the management of an offender.
Work closely with CPS in the charging and prosecution of offenders.
How is the HM Courts and Tribunals Service involved in the criminal justice system.
Responsible for the administration of criminal, civil and family courts.
They administer the world of magistrates’ court and the county court, family court, crown court, royal courts of justice, etc.
Relationships:
Contributes to law creation through judicial precedent and statutory interpretation.
