(2-01-17) N2O Delivery Systems Flashcards
what are the different types of main divisions?
- demand flow unit vs continuous flow unit
- portable (ecomonics) vs central (complex)(smaller)
what do regulators do
reduce pressure from 750-2200 psi to a safe 45-55 psi
what is the MAIN issue with regulators?
GREASE!!!
what is the flowmeter?
individual gas calibration (displays gas in motion +/- 2%
what color tubes are oxygen and are they fluted?
green and FLUTED
what color tubes are N2O and are they fluted?
blue and NOT fluted
what is a FAIL safe?
-valve closes off making it impossible for device to deliver N2O without O2 present in the delivery line
what is FLOW safe
if O2 flow goes below normal, the N2O will dec in order to match
-designed to get at least 30% O2
what are some flowmeter advancements?
- digital
- increments of 0.1L
- built in alarms for all gasses
- non-silenceable alarm (O2 depletion)
- emergency air intake valve
what are some safety features of N2O
*** he said this would be short answer on the exam
- minimum O2 liter flow
- minimum oxygen percentage
- DISS (diameter index safety system)
- PISS (pin index safety system)
- Oxygen fail safe
- Emergency air inlet
- alarm
- O2 flush button
- reservoir bag
- color coding
- quick connect positive pressure O2
what are three types of available inhalation units?
- accutron (N2O lock)
- porter (automatic vaccum
- matrx
*in all, gas goes in one side and has suction through the other side
if a pt starts to aspirate, what side do you turn them on?
right side
what are the two types of titration>
- constant liter flow (what we use)
- constant O2 flow
what is constant liter flow
L of O2 you dec, you add N2O
what is constant O2 flow
O2 remains constant, simply add N2O
