What is 1 RM?
-Greatest amount of weight that can be lifted with proper form for only one rep
What is it used for?
- Muscle specific measure of strength
- Resistance training purposes
- Baseline measures for pre and post training
What is the multiple RM test?
Estimation of 1-RM using a submaximal procedure.
- Client completes 6-10 reps of a particular exercise with no loss of form and is not able to complete another repitition
What factors are used to measure 1 RM from a multiple RM test?
Weight and Number of Reps
What must you do before starting a 1-RM test?
5 minute aerobic warm up
What is a warm up weight?
Weight that the client can life 10 times with no loss of form
How long is the rest in between sets?
1 minute
What is the max amount of sets you can do for this test and when can you retest?
3 excluding the warm up
Will have to wait 48 hours to re-test if 1RM was not found
