Only once the aircraft is shutdown in accordance with the checklist
What are the student go-around criteria?
1) Instructed to by DI/ATC
2) RWY not clear or clearance not received by 200’ AGL
3) Finals checks not complete or approach path is too steep/shallow by 200’ AGL
4) IAS stabilizes threshold speed on base/final (110 KIAS)
5) Dangerous balloon (or bounce) or not touched down with > 4000’ of runway remaining
6) > 45 AoB required on base
7) An S turn is required to capture finals
8) Not satisfied with the approach
9) Not aligned with the runway by 350’ AGL by day/ 400’ b night.
10) Traffic confliction exists or once the landing sequences has been given the pilot is unable to identify or loses visual contact with preceding traffic.
What should solo students do encountering an emergency?
Aviate
Navigate
Communicate (With tower/DI)
Administrate
Don’t continue the sortie if there is an emergency.
Are solo students to practice emergencies?
No
What sequences can the solo student perform?
Only those sequences that have been performed to a standard and certified ‘safe solo’
What conditions must be satisfied before the student can go safe solo?
1) BE able to fly a safe normal circuit, overshoot from base and final approach and carry out full stop landings
2) Have successfully complete the pre-solo quiz
3) Have a thorough knowledge of the following emergency procedures:
- Start emergencies
- EFATO
- Ejection drills
- Emergency landing gear extension
- Radio/Comms failure

10 kts crosswind
5 knots downwind
How should solo students rejoin the circuit?
Via initial + pitch
What circuits should solo students not perform unless emergency dictates?
1) Flapless
2) Low level

4) Abnormal - HUD off/Aileron Power Off
In the event of a runway change, what should solo students do?
1) Land and clear the runway
2) Complete after landing checklist
3) Taxi to the new duty runway chec bay and conduct the before TO checklist
4) Then commence normal circuit operations
