Prior to GFPT, do student pilots need to verbalize the item call out from the RAAF PC-21 aide memoire?
Yes for all sorties prior to GFPT

The Before TO checklist
When should solo students remain fully strapped in?
Until aircraft is parked and shutdown in accordance with the checklist.
After every sortie, what should students do regarding PMM?
Ensure their sortie recording is downloaded from the PMM as soon as practicable after flight and prior to the PMM being formatted.
What are 1FTS students go around criteria?
1) If instructed by ATC or Duty Instructor
2) RWY not clear or clearance not received by 200’ AGL
3) Final checks not complete or approach path is too steep or shallow by 200’ AGL
4) IAS stabilized below threshold speed (99 KIAS?) on base or final
5) Dangerous balloon (or bounce) or not touched down with greater than 4000’ of runway remaining
6) Greater than 45 degrees AoB is required on base
7) An ‘S’ turn is required to capture final
8) Not satisfied with approach
9) Not aligned with runway by 350 AGL’ by day/400’ AGL by night
10) A traffic confliction exists or, once the landing sequence has been given the pilot is unable to identify or loses visual contact with preceding traffic.
Who should students seeking civilian flying operations or training require to seek permission through?
CO through CFI
What should solo students encountering an emergency or unserviceability do?
1) Carry out appropriate initial actions
2) When A/C is safety under control and if time permits, students are to advise the DI
3) If in training area, students are to advise the DI on the OPS frequency in accordance with SI OPS 02-03.
Are solo students to simulate emergencies?
No
What sequences may solo students fly?
Those which have been completed in a dual sortie to a satisfactory standard and has been ‘certified safe solo’ on the student privileges’ sheet.
What 3 conditions must be satisfied before a student can be sent on their first solo?
1) Be able to fly a safe, normal circuit, overshoot from base and final approach, and carry out full stop landings
2) Have successfully complete the pre-solo quiz
3) Have a thorough knowledge of the following emergency procedures:
- Start emergencies including emergency egress
- Engine Failure after Take-off
- Ejection Drills
- Emergency landing gear extension
- Radio/Comms failure
Are solo students to practice EFATOs?
No
What is the solo student downwind limit?
5 kts
What is the solo student crosswind limit?
10 kts with no significant turbulence/windshear.
How should solo students rejoin the circuit?
Via initial unless directed by ATC/DI or weather dictates otherwise.
What day circuits/approaches are solo students not allowed to perform unless an emergency dictates?
1) Flapless
2) Low level
3) Glide
4) Abnormal - HUD off/Aileron power off
