1.A Flashcards
1
Q
The hagerstrand model
A
- primary stage - outbreak slows as it spreads from a fixed point - lasts for month when eventually reached enough people to spread quickly
- condensation stage - rapid growth occurs due to contagious - due to travel, poor educations and poor sanitation
- expansion stage - disease spread slows as pop become immune 0 due to education, quarantine and vaccination
- saturation stage - disease stops spreading - entire pop immune or dead - no new cases as saturated
2
Q
expansion diffusion
A
a disease has a source and spreads outwards into a new area meanwhile carriers in the source remain infected - outbreak of tTB - traditional model
3
Q
relocation diffusion
A
occurs when a disease leaves the area of origin and moves to a new areas - Cholera epidemic in Haiti - o.g form Nepal
4
Q
hierarchal diffusion
A
disease spreads through an ordered sequence of places - from largest centres with higher connectivity ti more isolated areas
5
Q
contagious diffusion
A
spreads through direct contact with a carrier - strongly influenced by distance - ebola epidemic in West aftrica
6
Q
barriers to diffusion
A
- distance from source
- physical geography
- political borders
- wearing face masks
- mass vaccination
- climate
- education
