What was the Truth and Reconciliation Committee?
A committee to give survivors of apartheid crimes a platform and hold perpetrators accountable. Many people felt that it did not provide justice since almost nobody was sentenced. This approach was heavily influenced by the presence of religious heads, specifically archbishop Desmond Tutu.

People were unhappy and angry. Countries asked South Africa to pay off its international debt and offered no financial support, the country was massively debilitated and wealth was divided very unequally. The NP was still present in the government.
