He wanted to eliminate private ownership, so that people would care more about each other, and not exploit others to make more money for themselves. blamed big banks and businesses for the cause of the GD.
Tim buck
Created prosperity certificates to pay for goods and services at specific stores. promised to give $25 a month of pocket, wanting to people who would buy more products, increasing demand, and jobs, and ending the depression.

Relief camps
unemployed, homeless, single men. worked 44 hours a week, cleared bushes, built roads, planted trees. poorly conditioned
On to Ottawa trek
1000 trekkers rode the rails to Ottawa. When they got stopped by Regina Saskatchewan, only 8 leaders were able to continue to Ottawa.
Regina riots
July 1, 1935 3000 trekkers were in Regina to hold a meeting. They were then attacked by the RCMP and sent back to the BC , the relief camps were shut down Bennett was held responsible for the conditions of the camp.
Dustbowl
big dust storms caused by soil erosion. Originally caused by overproduction from the farmers.
Halibut treaty
first environment treaty to conserve fish. signed only with Canada in the USA. first time the Canadian government signed and negotiated independently. Britain wanted to take part but the WLMK said that they werent involved with Canada anymore.
Chanak affair
In 1922 the first time Canada said no to a British battle. Canada was the only one to dismiss Britain’s request out of the 7 dominions.
Statue of Westminster
Britain could no longer decide for Canada or any of the dominions. Canada’s declaration of independence.

games were organized by the NM Robinson. Canada’s first major hosted international athletic event. A competition for nations part of the British emp.
