Women pilot. Flew in competitions. Got awards for being the fastest flyer. Disappeared while flying around the world. First women pilot to fly solo across the Atlantic.

WASPS

A

The women’s air force service pilots. Pioneering organizations of civilian female pilots. Employed to fly military air crafts under the direction of the United States Army air force during world war II. Led by Jackie Cochran. Were not considered to be part of the military, they did not get any benefits. They had to go to camp for training and were blamed for causing planes to malfunction.
