Laissez faire, industrial expansion, technological advancements
What entertainment could you get in the 1920s?
Jazz music/clubs, cinemas, radios, parties
Why didn’t people like jazz music?
Because it originated from black communities, and people believed that it would make people’s sex drives increase
What technological advancements were made?
Radios, cinema industry, Ford cars, assembly lines
Why was Protectionism introduced?
To persuade people to buy American goods instead of Foreign goods, to boost America’s economy
Why did people have so much disposable income?
Laissez faire meant that Americans didn’t get taxed, and they kept their money, and so they spent it on entertainment
How were social norms changed?
Particularly in urban areas, flappers defied traditional norms and embraced more liberal attitudes towards fashion, lifestyle and sexuality
