Describe how a vaccine makes you immune to a disease (4)

A
  • Dead or inactive forms of the pathogen are put into the body, often by injection
  • The antigens in the vaccine stimulate your white blood cells into making antibodies
  • The antibodies destroy the antigens without the risk of you getting the disease
  • The body then holds memory cells, which can be reproduced rapidly if the body is ever infected with that disease again
