1.9 active transport Flashcards
What is active transport
Active transport move substances from a more dilute solution to a more concentrated solution (against a concentration gradient)
What energy does active transport use?
Active transport uses energy released from food in respiration to provide the energy required
What does active transport allow plant roots to do?
It allows plant roots to absorb mineral ions required for healthy growth from very dilute solutions in the soil against the concentration gradient
What does active transport enable sugar molecules to do?
Architecture transport enable sugar molecules used to cell respiration to be absorbed from lower concentrations in the gut into the blood where the concentration of sugar is higher
What are sugar molecules used for?
Sugar molecules are used for cell respiration
