A
- Due to Henry wanting to aid Brittany he needed £100,000 however led to resentment
- Badly received as bad harvest and neighbouring counties didn’t have to pay

A
- Northumberland put their case to the King however he refused and as a result murdered
- Earl of Surrey defeated the rebels
- King travelled north to resolve the issue however did not raise enough finance

- No more trouble as Northumberland wasn’t best liked due to him supporting the tax

A
- Jan 1497 a tax was introduced to fund expedition to the North
- Cornish saw the threat as having no effect on them so refused the tax

A
- In May they marched through western counties
- Leader was Lord Audley
- June 16th - 15,000 members reached London
- Henry diverted troops from north to London

- 1,000 rebels killed
- Audley and local leaders executed
- Made him realise he needed to form alliance with Scotland as they wouldn’t be able to defend
- No real threat to throne
