A
- These therapies incorporate the concepts of mindfulness as a central objective of behaviour change, and they represent the addition of humanistic concepts and eastern methods to behaviour therapy.

- it is a treatment developed specifically for the treatment of borderline personality disorder

To an increasing extent, therapists are combining orientations and therapeutic techniques for particular clients

- Most therapeutic techniques have the goal of eliminating unwanted behaviors.
- However simple elimination is not always sufficient – need to replace the unwanted behavior with positive healthy behavior

- Graded task assignments – progressive steps in real life situations moving towards the final desired behavior
- Modeling – therapist demonstrates a healthy response to a problem situation
- Role-playing – exchange of roles by patient and therapist in acting out of a problem situation
