Decision tree
Gantt Chart
Force field analysis
Fishbone diagram
Decision tree
Flow chart structure that shows the different options and probabilities associated and the possible consequences. -> helps us make decisions
Force field analysis
Tool to evaluate change.
The force field model helps managers weigh the importance of restraining and driving forces.
It encourages an examination of how to strengthen the forces supporting the change and reduce the forces opposed to it.
Fishbone diagram
Visualisation tool for categorising the potential causes of the problem.
Gantt Chart
An organisation planning tool. The graphical representation of a project schedule.
Gantt chart positives
Clear visual representation of the time frame of the project and the current progress of each task - Flexible tool that can be applied to any management project - Managers can plan to use resources to complete a project more efficiently
How to make Gantt chart
Presented as a horizontal bar chart which shows all sequentially scheduled tasks (on the vertical axis) needed across a period of time (on the horizontal axis)
Each task is shown by its own horizontal rectangular bar, which it length depicts the length of the task in days/weeks
Critical and non-critical tasks are shown (critical need to be completed by the deadline if not the project is delayed + non-critical can be pushed back)
The links between ‘predecessor + successor’ tasks are shown. These are tasks that need to be completed before starting another one.
Gantt chart negatives
Duration is estimated - Hard to both plan and follow when project is very complicated- Determined mainly by qualitative data (and not quantitive) - Deadlines lay be reduce the quality of the work. If rushed!
How to use force field analysis
We sum the values (1 not important to 5 very important) and then decide how important the negative or the positive is.
