What is a Hotspot?
A
- You basically turn your phone into a WiFi router
- You may have to pay extra

What is Tethering?
A
- Anchored to your laptop through USB connection
- Use the internet from your laptop using the internet connection from your phone.

What is Airplane mode?
A
- One button turns off all radio: Cellular, WiFi, Bluetooth, NFC, etc..

Describe the features of Bluetooth
A
- Connect various devices: headsets, car, speakers, etc..
- Pairing process is very straight forward: Enable Bluetooth on both devices, Set device to discoverable, Select discover device, Enter or confirm Pin.

What are PRL updates?
A
- Preferred roaming list
- These updates tell your phone which tower to communicate with for CDMA networks
- Can be updated OTA (Over the air) which means it happens in the background

A
- Product release Instructions
- They have radio settings, ID numbers, network codes, country codes, so your phone knows how to use the Wireless network
- Also updated OTA (Over the air) which means it happens in the background

A
- Identifies your specific device. Every Smartphone has a different IMEI
- Can be used to allow or disallow access

A
- This is associated with you, and not the device.
- Can be provisioned in the SIM Card.

What is a VPN on a smartphone?
A
- Creates a secure channel between your smartphone and another device,
- Often built in to the Smartphone

What does the Radio do inside your phone?
A
- Baseband Radio Processor
- Designed to connect with the cellular provider’s network
- Has it’s own Firmware and Memory. The firmware updates OTA (over the air)
- You never see this part of the phone operating
