o Rising sea levels -> people have to relocate -> leaving schools or employment with social connections -> reduced opportunities to maintain meaningful interactions
o Rising sea levels -> decreased land for farming (for crops, animals) -> farmers unable to continue their fulfilling employment -> reduced sense of purpose in life
Changing weather + patterns extreme weather events HOW
o Changing weather patterns -> more mosquitoes present due to humid environment -> more infectious diseases spread by mosquitoes
o Extreme temperatures -> growth of many crops affected such -> lowered levels of food security -> stress and anxiety
Conflict HOW
o Conflict -> physical injuries -> inability to attend work/school -> unable to maintain social connections
o Conflict -> physical environment such as healthcare clinics can be destroyed -> unable to seek medical help for injuries -> stress and anxiety from reduced lack of access to healthcare
o Conflict -> electricity supplies can be destroyed -> inability to use electricity to safely and hygienically store and cook food (e.g refrigeration) -> increased risk of foodborne illnesses such as salmonella
Conflict (Displaced people)
those who are forced to leave their home because of war or persecution
Mass migration
refers to movement of large groups of people from one geographical area to another and includes refugees, asylum-seekers, internally displaced persons and stateless people
Mass migration HOW
o Mass migration -> spread infectious diseases from one country to another
o Mass migration -> having to move geographical locations -> children drop out of school -> unable to maintain social connections
o Mass migration -> women forced into sex-work -> increased risk of violence -> stress and anxiety to gain income for necessary supplies
o Mass migration -> forced into crowded and unsanitary living conditions in refugee camps -> outbreaks of communicable diseases

o Tourism -> promotes employment from tourism industry such as hotel staff -> ability to earn an income and purchase resources such as healthcare -> reduce poverty
o Tourism -> money from tourism can be invested in maternal health -> increased chance of surviving child birth -> achieve gender equality
