Provides a link between wireless and wired networks.
What does a Wireless Access Point do?
Allows devices to connect to a wired network.
What is a Router?
Forwards messages between networks.
What does a Router do?
Connects to the internet and multiple devices using the IP address of the packet to determine where and how to send it.
What is a Modem?
Converts between digital and analogue signals.
What does a Modem do?
Allows devices to connect to the internet.
What are Hybrid Devices?
Multiple communication devices in a single device.
What is a benefit of Hybrid Devices?
Adaptable; if one device fails, the others can still work.
What is a disadvantage of Hybrid Devices?
Complex features and VPN support.
What is a Network Interface Card (NIC)?
An internal piece of hardware required for a computer to connect to a network.
What does a Network Interface Card do?
Enables Ethernet or Wi-Fi connection.
